    ITINERARY

Day 01: Cusco and its surroundings – Qoricancha & Four RUINS

All of our four-day Machu Picchu tours begin when you land in Cusco, where a representative will be waiting for you at the airport with a sheet bearing your name. The rest of the morning is yours to unwind, sip on some coca tea (a natural tea made from coca leaves, which is the best remedy for altitude sickness), or simply stroll through the city center and see some colonial churches and historic streets.

Your tour guide will pick you up from your hotel in the afternoon and take you on a tour of Cusco City, which begins with a visit to the Qoricancha, the golden temple of the Incas, which was once the main temple of the Incan Empire and was dedicated to the god of Sun. After that, we will take a bus outside the city to see the massive Incan fortress of Sacsayhuaman, which has some amazing Inca walls made up of enormous and impressive stones weighing up to 130 tons, which fit together completely! Three of the walls run parallel to more than 360 meters, and the fortress features 21 bastions.

We next proceed to Qenqo, a ceremonial place and an adjacent Incan labyrinth. Following our tour guide’s explanation of this mysterious location, we get on the bus and travel on to the red stronghold known as Puca Pucara. Our final destination is Tambomachay, an Inca water shrine.

At last, we are returned to our Cusco hotel for the night.

Day 02: The Finest of the Sacred Valley & Machu Picchu Town

The tour will take you up from the hotel this morning so you may explore the Sacred Valley in Peru, which was a major Inca food supply. A large portion of Cusco City’s output is continuously supplied by the Sacred Valley, a fertile agricultural area. We go to Pisaq’s magnificent ruins and its now-famous crafts market. After that, we make a stop in Urubamba, which is regarded as the valley’s capital, for a buffet lunch that features Andean fare. We next proceed to Ollantaytambo, a charming village with an Incan stronghold. The stronghold and town are well located to overlook the stunning Urubamba River Valley. The castle is regarded as the finest example of Inca engineering and urban design that has survived! In addition to being one of the few locations where the Spanish lost a significant fight during their conquest, it is revered for its enormous, steep terraces that protect the castle.

We travel to Machu Picchu by rail in the evening from Cusco. Before traveling to Machu Picchu, we stay the night in this little village.

Day 03: Machu Picchu Guided Tour and retun by train to cusco

We prepare for the Cusco to Machu Picchu excursion in the morning! We first board a bus that drops us off right in front of the entrance of this Inca spiritual and historical center. We enter and begin our guided tour there, where our guide tells us about Machu Picchu’s history, precise location, and every aspect of the «Lost City of the Incas.»

Since no Spanish conquistador’s record mentions Machu Picchu, modern archaeologists are limited to speculating about its purposes, making it both the best and the least known of the Incas’ sites. Before an 11-year-old kid on July 24, 1911, revealed the American historian Hiram Bingham, who was looking for Vilcabamba, Machu Picchu Cusco, the local Quechua farmers had been aware of it for decades. The rest of the world learned of its existence at that point. Hiram Bingham and his colleagues returned and cleansed the site’s surface in 1912 and 1915 since it was overgrown with plants. Numerous excavations and studies of the site have been conducted throughout the years. There are still a lot of unsolved questions in spite of these efforts.

We then have the chance to trek to the top of Huayna Picchu to get a different viewpoint of the Incan fortress.

After taking the train back to Ollantaytambo in the afternoon, we are driven back to Cusco in a vehicle.
